La Cocina

 

La Cocina is a Latinx-founded, Latinx-serving, and Latinx-led mental health agency.

Their work

La Cocina provides full access to traditional and nontraditional forms of mental health and health equity support services for the Latinx immigrant community. These services include culturally attuned Spanish-language behavioral & mental health services, immigrant-led community peer-supports, and forensic mental health assessments. Offered at no cost, all La Cocina services are available to any/all Spanish-speaking persons demonstrating financial need.

Services:

  • Mil Dias De Amor
    • Mental wellness services for children 0-5 years old; Circle of Security Group for parents of children 0-5; Child-Parent Psychotherapy/ Trauma treatment.
  • La Cocina 6+
    • Therapeutic services for families with children ages 6+, including individual, couples, and family therapy. Tu Pausa: a group for reducing anxiety, depression, and stress. L-Grupo is a group of Latinx adolescents ages 13 to 17 years old.
  • Mind Over Border (MOB)
    • Forensic Mental Health Assessments (FMHA’s) for children and adults in immigration proceedings. Expert training for Spanish-speaking clinicians interested in learning La Cocina’s FMHA model. The MOB program also leads systems-change advocacy efforts in the community focused on the intersection of mental health and immigration.
  • Internship Program
    • La Cocina’s Internship Program is philosophically grounded in the practitioner-scholar model of professional psychology and accepts students from accredited institutions in clinical or counseling masters’ programs. Aimed to cultivate highly skilled clinicians with a strong professional identity as culturally responsive mental health providers with a passion for justice via meaningful self-reflection and strong competence in core tenets of Liberation Psychology.

Free Well-Being Support for Immigration Stress and Trauma- DCAC

Our Immigrant Family Initiative provides mental health services specifically to families and children who are experiencing trauma or stress as a result of their immigration status or situation.

Services Available
Trainings- empower families in growth and well- being

Support groups- to share stories and heal from experiences.

Individual/family therapy- bilingual therapists with experience with immigration issues who individuals and families through, heal, and overcome experiences.

Trauma & Disaster Recovery Clinic at DU

The Trauma & Disaster Recovery Clinic (TDRC) provides psychological support to individuals and communities who have experienced stress, adversity and/or trauma. We utilize an integrative, need and strengths-based approach that is culturally informed. Our services are continually evaluated to ensure effectiveness and are not restricted by status.

The New America School

The New America School (NAS) is a system of public charter high schools dedicated to serving a unique population – recent immigrants and their families and children who want to learn or perfect English and earn a high school diploma, non-traditional students, and traditional students seeking a more personal atmosphere that fits their learning needs.

Aurora Mental Health Center

Aurora Mental Health Center is a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic offering services to address a wide range of mental health conditions. Individuals and families rely on us to help them cope with a variety of challenges. Our staff of physicians, nurses, psychologists, therapists, and peers works with all age groups, from children to seniors.

Grief Counseling Services- Judi’s House

Judi’s House provides support to children and families grieving a death. Services are provided to youth ages 3 to 25, and their families at no charge.
